Milano Glass Crystal Accessories

Milano glass

Milano Glass defines fashion and style in the art of artistic glassmaking. The brand became known for the distinctive pate de verre technique, a French term meaning “glass dough”. The technique is not new, but Milano Glass replaced glass with crystal as its defining material. Crystal treated through the pate de verre process becomes soft and pliable, like dough in the hands of a skilled cook, allowing artisans to create almost any shape.

The process has roots in ancient Egyptian art. Pieces of coloured glass are baked inside a refractory mould, following the mould’s contours precisely. The method creates an unusual texture and allows artisans to achieve complex colour transitions, with every result remaining distinctive.

Pate de verre crystal becomes dense, partially opaque and heavy, with a stone-like appearance. The material remains vivid and seems to glow from within. Artisans often leave Milano Glass pieces slightly matte and warm, without polishing the surface to a characteristic crystal shine.
