Barovier&Toso Opéra Collection
Barovier&Toso
The Opéra collection brings together the inspiration of French designer Philippe Nigro and the refined craftsmanship and artistic vision of Barovier&Toso.
The collection includes pendant lights, a wall sconce and a table lamp. Inspired by the Opéra Garnier, the collection has an eclectic and decorative character.
The splendour and grandeur of the famous Parisian theatre, with its symmetrical structure, appear in the design of the Opéra lamp.
The collection is defined by subtle contrasts. Baroque references meet a restrained modern minimalist touch, creating a delicate and harmonious dichotomy. The design preserves and reveals the artistry and heritage of Barovier&Toso, a guardian of glassmaking art for more than seven centuries.
The creative process produced a timeless and elegant design with a rich yet restrained appearance and a direct, distinctive personality.
The main feature selected by Nigro for the collection is rostro. Barovier & Toso patented the craftsmanship technique, which was invented by Ercole Barovier in 1938.
The technique involves manually shaping Venetian crystal into a continuous sequence of faceted prisms.
Philippe Nigro was fascinated by the process and developed a design approach that strengthens its distinctive character. The cylindrical form highlights the ornamental motif, multiplies the angles through which light travels and creates a dense arrangement of three-dimensional points.
Venetian crystal elements are joined to metal details with a closely related silhouette that surrounds and supports the illuminated volumes. The materials have distinctly different textures while sharing a defined inspiration in form and content. The collection offers three finishes for this material dialogue: matt gold, matt copper and matt black nickel.
The Opéra pendant lights are available in three different sizes. The pendant lights suit interior design projects of different types and scales.
The wall sconce has a vertical form. The wall sconce suits decorative wall compositions and adds luminous accents. The table lamp has a more enveloping appearance and creates a warm, precious atmosphere even when the lamp is switched off.
