Foster + Partners and Molteni have developed a long-standing and productive relationship that began with the design of the Still sofa in 2006. Foster + Partners also designed a range of office furniture called “Elements” for UniFor, a Molteni subsidiary. Ava follows the natural development of an earlier metal conference table designed for UniFor Elements and adapts the concept into a wooden dining table.
The new design explores the warmth and tactile quality of wood alongside material efficiency. Ava creates sustainable modular furniture suitable for residential and commercial interiors.

Foster + Partners follows a design policy focused on environmentally responsible buildings and furniture. Foster + Partners developed a table collection for contemporary interiors. Ava is made entirely of wood, a natural material, and responds to the growing demand for designer furniture that meets sustainability requirements. Ava also preserves the need to give every piece of furniture the space it deserves.
Ava draws inspiration from the lightweight forms of aircraft wings and bridges. Ava consists of two main segments, a central section and a cantilevered end, which can be combined to create a single table of any length. The bridge-like structure forms a highly sculptural object with minimal detailing and a high-quality finish. A shadow gap highlights the joint between the two sections and references architectural traditions.
The geometry allows the end sections to project up to one metre in both directions while remaining stable and rigid. Ava is made entirely of wood except for the fasteners. The sculptural legs taper from a wider upper section that provides support to a slim line at floor level. Ava is available in walnut and eucalyptus finishes. Standard versions come in three standard sizes: 2.9, 3.4 and 3.8 metres.
