Roman architects Massimiliano Fuksas (1944) and Doriana Mandrelli (1955), known as Doriana & Massimiliano Fuksas, form one of the most influential partnerships in international architecture and design. Massimiliano Fuksas graduated from La Sapienza University in 1969, collaborated with Archigram, and trained under Henning Larsen and Jørn Utzon. Massimiliano Fuksas opened his first studio before completing university. Massimiliano Fuksas has worked with Doriana since the 1980s. Doriana is an architect and a graduate of EMA in Paris.
Doriana & Massimiliano Fuksas founded Studio Fuksas, with offices in Rome, Paris, Shenzhen and Dubai. Notable architectural projects include Gelendzhik Airport, Duomo metro station in Naples and the Zhaoxin Huijin Centre in China.
Doriana has led the studio’s design department since 1997. Doriana & Massimiliano Fuksas have created numerous products for iGuzzini, Alessi, Baxter, Zeus, Venini, Vall&Valli, Catalano, Glamora, Poltrona Frau and other brands. Their work includes the Lavinia lamp, the Baby Doll armchair, the Colombina and Zoe collections, Ghinah wallpaper and the Carmen handle. Their designs have received the Good Design Award, German Design Award, International Design Awards and other honours.
