Draga & Aurel

Founded in 2007 by Draga Obradovic and Aurel K. Basedow, Draga & Aurel combines art, collectible design and interior objects. The founders have backgrounds in fashion, craftsmanship and visual art. Draga Obradovic and Aurel K. Basedow are known for original approaches to materials and unique compositions.
Draga Obradovic and Aurel K. Basedow were among the first designers to apply upcycling principles to design. The studio began by reinterpreting vintage furniture, creating the Deshabillé and Heritage collections. Participation in Milan Design Week 2009 marked a turning point. Collaborations followed with Baxter, Wall&Deco, and later Visionnaire, Gallotti&Radice, Poltrona Frau and Giorgetti.
In 2019, the duo presented the original project Transparency Matters, which explores the effects of light, colour and transparency. The collection has since become the studio’s signature project. Transparency Matters is regularly exhibited at galleries including Rossana Orlandi, Nilufar and Todd Merrill Studio, as well as at leading art and design fairs.
Aurel K. Basedow’s artworks develop alongside the studio’s furniture and interior design. Art and design form a unified visual language in which the boundaries between the two disciplines are continually reconsidered.
