For two decades, Ronan Bouroullec's name was almost always mentioned alongside the name of his younger brother, Erwan. Before Aim, a pendant light almost always imposed strict rules on an interior. The cable was concealed inside the ceiling, the fixture position was decided in advance, and changing the composition after installation was almost impossible.

Aim completely changed that logic.

The cable became an active compositional element, allowing the light to move freely, the height to be adjusted and individual lighting scenarios to be created without complex room renovation.

Similar freedom now feels natural, but Aim opened a new direction in contemporary decorative lighting and remains one of Flos's most recognisable collections.

Céramique: a return to craft

After starting an independent career, Ronan Bouroullec presented Céramique, one of the most emotionally expressive collections of recent years.

Céramique is based on ceramic, a material that has accompanied the development of European decorative art for centuries.

Each Céramique light consists of a single ceramic form that unites the base, stem and shade. Glossy glaze reflects light, emphasising colour depth and making the surface appear almost alive.

The collection includes three versions, Down, Side and Up. Each version creates a distinct lighting character: focused task light, lateral wall lighting or a soft reflected glow.

For Ronan Bouroullec, ceramic became a way to return sensuality and tactility to objects, qualities that often disappear in the digital age.

Luce Sferica and Luce Cilindrica: the beauty of blown glass

The latest chapter of Ronan Bouroullec's collaboration with Flos is connected with two collections, Luce Sferica and Luce Cilindrica.

Both models are built around blown glass, a material that Ronan Bouroullec considers an ideal medium for light.

Instead of complex sculptural forms, Ronan Bouroullec uses clear geometric volumes, a sphere and a cylinder. A modern LED system is concealed inside, while the glass itself becomes the main instrument for shaping the light flow.

The result resembles a glowing architectural composition more than a traditional pendant light.
