Gustave: autonomous light without compromise

The portable Gustave lamp became another important development.

Many manufacturers can create a portable lamp. Vincent Van Duysen set a different goal: achieving light quality comparable to stationary professional systems.

Gustave is a compact rechargeable lamp designed for long autonomous operation. Gustave suits residential interiors, restaurants, hotels and open terraces.

Gustave demonstrates the designer’s characteristic approach: the technology remains present but does not demand attention. The user notices soft light and ease of use.

Infra-Structure: when light becomes architecture

Infra-Structure became one of Vincent Van Duysen’s largest projects for Flos.

Infra-Structure is not a single lamp, but a modular architectural platform combining magnetic tracks, suspended elements, spotlights, linear light sources and different control options.

Infra-Structure allows an architect to build a lighting composition and adapt the composition to a specific space.

Infra-Structure is therefore widely used in hotels, boutiques, premium offices and contemporary private residences where lighting must function as one part of the architecture rather than as a group of separate fixtures.

Minimalism that requires advanced engineering

Vincent Van Duysen work is often described as minimalist. The apparent simplicity of Vincent Van Duysen work can be deceptive.

A more concise form creates higher engineering requirements. The smallest error in proportions, metal finishing or light direction becomes immediately visible.
