Flexform Showroom and Italian Design
Immediately after the 60th anniversary of its founding, the historic Flexform showroom, built in 1959, underwent a complete renovation.
Architect Gigi Radice and engineer Gino Colombo originally designed the building. The building was known as the “Exhibition Pavilion” at the time, according to an article published in Il Cittadino on 17 December 1960. Journalists wrote: “The building impresses with the originality of its architecture. Visitors inside discover an exhibition of living-room furniture, where vivid colours combine with carefully planned lighting to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.” The project set new standards for interior spaces during its period.
The Galimberti family, which founded Flexform, viewed the showroom as a starting point for further development rather than a final destination. The showroom became a living expression of the brand philosophy: an ideal home filled with comfort, warmth and elegance. The same aesthetic appears in Flexform exhibition stands at international fairs, beginning with projects created by Achille Castiglioni from 1979 to 1989 and continuing with contemporary displays designed by Antonio Citterio.
The contemporary Flexform showroom reflects the essence of the company. The architecture and interiors are planned to immerse every visitor in the authentic atmosphere of the brand. The space expresses the core principles of the Flexform philosophy: respect for Italian design craftsmanship, enduring elegance, conceptual coherence, exceptional quality and the comfort that has become a signature feature of the factory.
The space covers more than 2,000 square metres across three levels. The showroom presents a flowing sequence of displays where new products stand alongside established iconic models. The collection includes the Groundpiece sofa system, A.B.C. armchairs and the Infinity bookcase, all created by Antonio Citterio, along with many other notable pieces.
The Flexform showroom serves as a professional platform for architects, interior designers and official brand partners rather than simply a shop. The space also welcomes anyone who wants to explore the aesthetics of Italian design and experience the spirit of Flexform.
