Milan Design Week 2026: Three Luxury Design Scenarios, Henge, Poltrona Frau, Gessi
During Milan Design Week 2026 and the parallel Salone del Mobile 2026 programme, the group visited key showrooms, Henge, Poltrona Frau and Gessi. Each exhibition presented a distinct view of product design evolution, covering material-led interiors, technological experiences and sensory environments.
Henge: Interior as a Total Installation
The Henge exhibition at the showroom on Via della Spiga became one of the most conceptual installations in the Fuorisalone programme. Henge presented the new Ritual Gravity collection and completely reshaped the showroom around the collection's philosophy.
The defining change in 2026 was the move away from displaying individual pieces in favour of a complete spatial composition. The interior unfolds through a sequence of settings where furniture, lighting and objects form a continuous dialogue.
Key New Products and Themes:
the new Henge Notte line, an exploration of private spaces and bedroom atmospheres
the expansion of the Home Collection, with objects for everyday rituals such as tables, tableware and accessories
stronger sculptural expression, with the balance between mass and lightness as the collection's central theme

The exhibition demonstrates a shift from furniture towards emotional interior architecture, with stone, metal and glass serving as carriers of meaning.
Poltrona Frau: Craftsmanship and Industrial Flexibility
The Poltrona Frau showroom focused on the evolution of the brand's classical heritage through new ways of using furniture.

Poltrona Frau presented several significant new products:
Archibald Sofa System, a modular system that adapts an iconic model to contemporary living
Touch Armchair, designed by Jean Nouvel, a sensory object with integrated functional elements
the development of collaborations, including projects with Studio Paolo Ferrari, alongside new interpretations of archival models.

Function hybridisation was a significant trend, with furniture combining comfort, technology and emotional response through layered functions.
The exhibition was arranged as a sequence of residential scenes where Pelle Frau® leather served as more than a finish. Pelle Frau® leather acted as the brand's central medium, with both tactile and visual impact.
Gessi: Water as an Architecture of Sensation
Gessi presented one of the week's most technological and immersive exhibitions.

In 2026, Gessi developed the Haute Culture concept by opening a new space and transforming Casa Gessi Milano into a setting for sensory experiences.
The main premiere was:
an innovative overhead steam system, a new generation of SPA solutions for private interiors
The exhibition was structured as a journey:
a transition from the object, such as a tap or shower
to the setting, represented by a water ritual
and then to wellness architecture
Gessi moves sanitaryware design beyond the product category and establishes a new spatial typology, with the interior presented as a therapeutic experience.

The three showrooms established distinct yet complementary directions for luxury design in 2026:
Henge, the interior as an artistic installation and material as emotion
Poltrona Frau, a synthesis of traditional craftsmanship and flexible contemporary settings
Gessi, the technologisation of sensory experience and the move towards wellness architecture
Together, the three showrooms demonstrate Milan Design Week's central shift, from the object towards the life scenario and from form towards user experience.
