One Console
Design by Alain Gilles
One Console is an architectural art object presented as a console that deliberately rejects symmetry and predictability. The console draws inspiration from prehistoric dolmens and appears assembled from irregularly formed elements, joined by chance into a structure that remains stable and functional despite expectations.
The main visual focus rests on the sculptural leg structures. The supports stand exceptionally close together, creating the illusion of absence at certain angles and producing a sense of visual instability. The apparent instability creates One Console's distinctive dynamic. A subtle gap between the curved modules allows light to enter and highlights the interplay of volume and relief. Asymmetrical supports establish a strong spatial direction, making One Console an expressive interior feature, not simply furniture but a considered design statement.
