Gordon Guillaumier

Gordon Guillaumier is a Maltese designer whose career spans more than three decades. Gordon Guillaumier's work combines Mediterranean sensuality with Italian design discipline. Gordon Guillaumier's collaboration with Minotti produced refined furniture defined by sculptural expression and practical function.

Education and early career
Gordon Guillaumier was born in Malta in 1966. Gordon Guillaumier studied in Switzerland and England before earning a degree in industrial design from Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Milan in 1991. Gordon Guillaumier completed a master's degree at Domus Academy in 1992. Gordon Guillaumier worked at Baleri Associati in the early 1990s. Gordon Guillaumier also collaborated with architect Rodolfo Dordoni and with Driade, contributing to the development of the Atlantide and DHouse collections. 

Own studio and international projects
Gordon Guillaumier founded a studio in Milan in 2002. The studio focuses on industrial design, art direction and consultancy. Gordon Guillaumier's clients include Tacchini, Roda, Desalto, Oluce, FontanaArte, Moroso, Bosa, De Sede and other companies. Gordon Guillaumier has also taught at Politecnico di Milano and Abadir Design Academy. 

Collaboration with Minotti
Gordon Guillaumier began collaborating with Minotti in the 2000s. The collaboration produced several notable furniture designs:

Cortina Chair (2006): an armchair with a stainless-steel frame and removable leather upholstery. 

Pasmore Armchair: an armchair with a dark American walnut frame and curved armrests, upholstered in grey aniline leather. 

Capri Base Armchair: an updated version of the iconic Capri armchair, featuring a curved shell and goose down in the seat cushion. 

Boden Coffee Table: a sculptural coffee table with an organic form, a glossy Sand-coloured interior and a matt Moka-coloured oak exterior. 

Bellagio collection: a selection of tables with clean lines and varied finishes, including wooden and metal bases. 

Gordon Guillaumier's furniture combines aesthetics, function and high-quality workmanship.

Recognition and awards
Gordon Guillaumier has received numerous awards, including the Wallpaper Design Award (2014), an honourable mention at the XXIV Compasso d’Oro (2016), the ADI Ceramic Design Award (2016) and the NYCxDesign Award (2019). 
Gordon Guillaumier continues to contribute to contemporary design through furniture that combines refinement, function and visual appeal.
