Inoda Sveje

Designer duo Inoda+Sveje brings together Kyoko Inoda from Japan and Nils Sveje from Denmark. The duo combines Eastern refinement with Scandinavian discipline. Inoda+Sveje began collaborating with Italian brand Minotti in 2021 to unite different cultural traditions in the pursuit of beauty and design excellence. 

Biography and philosophy
Kyoko Inoda studied architectural design at ISAD in Milan. Nils Sveje graduated from the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Inoda+Sveje founded the studio in Copenhagen in 2000 and moved the studio to Milan in 2003. The duo applies a harmonious approach and focuses on forms and proportions inspired by nature. Inoda+Sveje creates designs that act as interfaces between people and their surroundings. 

Collaboration with Minotti
Inoda+Sveje began collaborating with Minotti in 2021. The collaboration produced the 2022 collection, where the designers presented models that combine the traditional aesthetics and woodworking skills associated with their countries of origin with Minotti's long-standing experience in upholstered furniture production.

Key collections for Minotti
Yoko: The seating family includes an armchair, dining chair and ottoman. The design highlights cabinetmaking craftsmanship through refined joints and soft lines.

Sendai: The seating collection draws inspiration from natural forms. The collection includes armchairs and sofas with slender legs that resemble tree branches.

Lars: The sofa features organic forms and five slender legs that resemble branches polished by the wind.

Each piece reflects the combination of Japanese and Scandinavian cultures. Each design joins simplicity with refined hand-finished details.

Design philosophy
Inoda+Sveje creates objects that serve practical functions and produce an emotional response. The designers believe that interaction between people and objects can provide comfort and enrich daily life. Inoda+Sveje bases its approach to minimalism on observing nature, where forms are never strictly linear and organic lines create a sense of harmony and calm.
