The Porta Volta chair by Herzog & de Meuron is a distinctive piece that immediately attracts attention. The defining design feature is a solid wood backrest curved into a U shape, creating a sense of comfort and enclosure. The floating backrest continues to form the armrests. A configurable cushion can divide the backrest when required. Three U-shaped frames with a unique curved mortise-and-tenon joint give the chair detailed softness. Four legs and the backrest angle slightly outward, providing stable and comfortable seating.
