Carpanese Home Maki Bed

Simone Bonanni designed Maki for Carpanese Home. Maki is a sculptural bed that contrasts the softness of upholstered forms with the precise geometry of wooden components. The fabric-upholstered headboard and bed frame contrast with a solid-wood base that gently raises the structure above the floor. A soft base extends slightly beyond the mattress and headboard, while an additional perimeter frame redefines the space intended for rest. Contrasting elements, materials and finishes reflect the designer’s focus on graphic refinement and the styling of simple forms.

Technical information

Carpanese Home Maki is a bed with solid legs made from ash-veneered fibreboard or lacquered fibreboard. The frame combines certified EPA plywood, fir and hardboard. Open-cell polyurethane foam and Dacron wadding provide the padding. An elastic webbing suspension system supports the bed. Leather or fabric upholstery completes the design.
